Expanding Pyth Network Adoption in Nigeria: Community Growth Proposal

A 7-month ecosystem growth program to increase the presence of Pyth Network in Nigeria through developer and community engagement, regional hackathon to ultimately onboard builders, develop Proofs of Concept (PoCs), which will further lay a foundation for long-term adoption across Africa.

Abstract

The goal of this initiative is to develop a vibrant Pyth Network community in Nigeria, one of the largest and most active Web3 ecosystems in Africa. Given the fast pace of blockchain adoption in Nigeria, however, Pyth and its oracle solutions do not seem to be very well known in this region.

This proposal seeks funds to develop a structured 7 month program comprising developer workshops, localised education materials, community engagement, university partnerships and regional hackathon.
The plan is to onboard more than 1,500 community members, 80 developers, and deliver a minimum of 20 Proofs of Concept that utilizes Pyth data feeds. This project will form the basis for ‘Build-to-MVP’ incubation program and future expansion to West Africa and across the continent.

Rationale

Why the Pyth community should support this initiative

  1. Nigeria is one of the fastest growing Web3 regions in the Africa

According to (Chainanalysis), Nigeria is one of the top countries in Africa when it comes to crypto adoption. There are thousands of developers with the vision and skill to build revolutionary Web3 solutions that can be very impactful to mainstream users, but they cannot get access to reliable data as well as funding to bring this ideas to life.

  1. There is low awareness of Pyth in this region which equals missed adoption

Only a few are aware of what Pyth is building and the opportunities available in Pyth foundation. That void leaves room for potential integrations with DeFi, trading, RWA and mobile-first financial apps.

  1. There is massive potential but no support parties

The Local developers have brilliant ideas but lack the funding as well as the infrastructure to actualize their ideas, and this is where Pyth comes in. Pyth filling this gap, can become an oracle of choice for all across Africa.

  1. It aligns the Pyth community’s mission a values
  • Decentralization through global participation
  • Developer empowerment
  1. This is a strategic long-term ecosystem growth

This will not just be a one-time event, it will be the beginning of a long-term plan to scale Pyth adoption across West Africa. The plan is to spread awareness across entire Africa continent, and create sustainable project pipelines while doing so.

Proposed Plan and Feasibility

Implementation Approach

1. Community Creation (Month 1)

  • Launch Pyth Nigerian community hub

  • Publish intro educational content

  • Initiate university and hub partnerships

  • Onboard regional community leads

Target: 200 members + 2 partnerships

Well aware that Pyth is community oriented, and already has a huge global community, but this dedicated hub will serve as a focused extension, designed for clarity, collaboration, and bringing all interested members together in one intentional space.

2. Developer Onboarding (Month 2)

  • First community call

  • Five new content pieces on Pyth use cases

  • Expanded outreach to dev communities

Target: 200+ active community members.

During this phase, developers will be introduced to the hub. This is the phase where they’ll get to share ideas while the community helps refine and brainstorm. Also, a call will be hosted at this phase, where the goals will be discussed, build connections, and make everyone feel at home within the ecosystem.

3. Developer Workshops & Idea Intake (Months 3–6)

  • 4 workshops (hybrid: online & physical)

  • Host 80 developers (20 per workshop)

  • Accept idea submissions for hackathon

Target: 900+ members + 20 idea submissions

At this phase, developers will submit their ideas and it will be reviewed. After submission, the best 20 Ideas will be selected which will advance to the hackathon phase where it will be developed to PoC.

4. Regional Hackathon (Month 6)

  • Host hackathon with 20 finalists

  • Develop PoCs using Pyth oracle data

  • Secure 6 formal partnerships

Target: 20 PoCs + visible community-generated integrations

This is when the main event will be hosted (I.e Hackathon). All of the finalist will get to contest in the hackathon by building their idea to the PoC stage. This hackathon will be an IRL event, the Best ideas will be voted on, and be rewarded accordingly.

5. Evaluation & Next Steps (Month 7)

  • Publish 6-month impact report

  • Publish all content (20–30 educational pieces)

  • Present roadmap for “Build-to-MVP” phase

Target: 1,500+ community members + 100k impressions

Evidence of the entire program will be submitted.

Conclusion

This initiative combines education, community, and awareness to expand Pyth’s presence in Nigeria. Within seven months, it will deliver measurable outcomes: engaged communities, onboarded developers, 20 Proofs of Concept all contributing to Pyth’s global growth and reinforcing its position as a leading oracle solution in the Nigerian Web3 ecosystem.

Following the hackathon, a subsequent grant will be sought to launch a post-event “Build-to-MVP” incubation program for selected winning teams.

After establishing a strong foundation in Nigeria, we are looking to implement the same strategy to expand into West Africa and then scale across the entire continent, empowering builders to create impactful solutions for everyday users while accelerating Web3 adoption and Pyth’s ecosystem growth.

This initiative will greatly impact the Pyth’s ecosystem, and would appreciate the DAOs input on this proposal. If there are questions or contributions, would love to hear them.

This proposal for expanding the Pyth Network in Nigeria is a strategic and well-structured initiative that addresses a massive untapped market. Nigeria currently represents one of the most vibrant and rapidly growing Web3 ecosystems globally, and establishing a dedicated hub there is a forward-thinking move for the Pyth DAO.

Here is a positive response you can post or adapt for the forum:

Subject: Strong Support for the Nigeria Community Growth Proposal

I am writing to express my strong support for the “Expanding Pyth Network Adoption in Nigeria” proposal. This initiative is both timely and strategically sound for several reasons:

* Strategic Market Entry: Nigeria is a global leader in crypto adoption. By establishing a formal presence now, Pyth can secure its position as the “oracle of choice” for the next wave of African DeFi, RWA, and fintech applications.

* Focus on “Build-to-MVP”: I particularly appreciate the emphasis on moving beyond just “awareness” to actual “output.” The goal of delivering 20 Proofs of Concept (PoCs) ensures that this grant results in tangible integrations and developer activity, rather than just social media impressions.

* Realistic Budgeting: The $12,600 budget is highly efficient for a 7-month program. The breakdown shows a lean approach that prioritizes developer workshops and hackathon rewards, which are the highest-impact areas for ecosystem growth.

* Proven Track Record: The proposer’s history of onboarding 18,000 users and leading large-scale hackathons (like Sandbox '25) gives me high confidence in their ability to execute this roadmap effectively.

The “Build-to-MVP” incubation model is the right way to foster long-term sustainability. I believe this proposal offers an excellent ROI for the Pyth ecosystem and sets a great blueprint for future expansion across the African continent.

I fully support this proposal and look forward to seeing the innovations that emerge from the Nigerian developer community! :handshake:
